The weather predictions for the months of July, August and September, in Eastern African region have been released, showing precipitations in some parts and warmer spells in others.
There are high chances of wetter than usual conditions indicated over most parts of the Eastern African region during the July to September season.
The latest weather forecast from the Intergovernmental Authority of Development’s Climate Prediction and Application Center (ICPAC) indicates drier than usual conditions expected over a few areas in Sudan, Ethiopia, and Uganda in July.
According to ICPAC, the seasonal temperatures are expected to be warmer than usual over northern Sudan, and equatorial to southern parts of the region.
Rainfall Forecast for July 2025
Wetter than normal conditions expected over western Kenya, parts of southern and north-western Somalia, most parts of Ethiopia, eastern Uganda, most parts of South Sudan and Sudan.
On the other hand, drier than usual conditions are expected over part of southern and south-eastern Sudan, central Ethiopia, north-western Uganda, and few areas in southern Somalia.
Temperature Forecast for July 2025
Warmer than usual conditions expected over northern areas of Sudan, much of Ethiopia, Djibouti, northern and southern Somalia, much of Kenya, south-eastern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and much of Tanzania.

Cooler than normal conditions expected over central to southern Sudan, western Eritrea, southern and north-eastern South Sudan, northern and central Somalia, northern and south-western Uganda, north-western Kenya, and western Tanzania.
July to September 2025
According to the forecast, wetter than usual conditions are expected over most parts of the northern sector of the region, western Kenya and much of Uganda.
Meanwhile drier than usual conditions should be expected over some isolated areas in South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Somalia.
Seasonal Temperature Forecast for July to September 2025
Warmer than average conditions are expected over northern and southern Sudan, South Sudan, central to southern Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.
Normal to cooler than normal temperature conditions are likely to be recorded over north-western Somalia, northern Ethiopia, southern Djibouti, Eritrea, central Sudan and cross border areas of Kenya-Uganda-South Sudan, within the period in forecast.
