Uganda and South Sudan forming a tripartite community with Central African Republic?

Two East African Community Member States, Uganda and South Sudan seem to be hatching their own independent tripartite which also includes the Central African Republic.

In fact, a tripartite meeting to that effect has just been convened in Kampala City. But are the two EAC members on the verge of forming another separate community with CAR?

According to official reports, the three countries seem to be launching an ambitious project to link South Sudan Uganda and the Central African Republic

The governments of South Sudan, Uganda and the Central African Republic (CAR) have just held the high-level tripartite meeting on Sunday, in the Ugandan capital, to enhance their own regional cooperation in infrastructure and trade

During the meeting a joint plan was announced to establish two main roads networks. At least this is what The Tanzania Times was told.

The first corridor will be connecting Uganda to South Sudan via the route of Kampala, Karuma, Nimule, Juba, Kaya Yei and the second linking South Sudan to the Central African Republic through the axis â€‹of Juba, Mundri, Miri, Yambio, Azzo, Bambouti, Obo â€‹and Sibouti

South Sudan’s Minister of Roads and Bridges Simon Mijok Mijak confirmed â€‹here that the three countries reached an agreement to jointly fund the project in partnership with international development institutions.

They are intending to transform it into a regional trade corridor supporting economic integration among the three nations.

This project comes within the framework of efforts to enhance land connectivity and facilitate trade and investment movement between the countries of the region contributing to the advancement of regional economic growth
