Tanzania releases the detained Kenyan Journalist, Mwangi, dumps him on the coastal borderline
Tanzania has finally released the Kenyan Journalist and political activist, Boniface Mwangi, taking him back to his country alive.
Mwangi a photojournalist, was deported from Tanzania by road and got dumped at a place called Ukunda in Kwale County.
Ukunda is located in the Kwale County of Kenya within the Coastal Province.
Ukunda is found adjacent and to the west of Diani Beach about 75.4 kilometres, North of the town of Lunga Lunga which directly borders Tanzania
That is where Mwangi was abandoned by the people who transported him there by road.
His family admits that Boniface Mwangi is alive, contrary to previous speculations circulating online that the activist was probably killed by cops in Tanzania.
A Tanzanian activist, Mdude Nyangali was abducted from his home in Mbeya, over two weeks ago and apart from pools of blood found at his home, Nyangali has never been found ever since.
It was due to that, most Kenyans were concerned about Mwangi’s life.
However, the photojournalist and activist has been confirmed to be back home, safe and sound apart from being injured.
Boniface Mwangi was however rushed to hospital for medical check-ups and according to members of his family; the activist was being treated at Diani Medical Center for minor injuries.
His family reported that Mwangi looked frail and that he was tortured by Tanzanian authorities after the activist was arrested in Dar-es-salaam.
He had travelled to Tanzania to attend the hearing of treason case against Tundu Lissu, the chairperson of Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA).
On social media things have turned ugly, with lots of hatred being openly expressed by Kenyans, especially the youth, against Tanzania.
The notorious Gen Z (The Union of Youth in Kenya) had threatened to invade and occupy the Tanzanian embassy in Nairobi if Dar-es-salaam did not release their activist in time.
