Rebel groups that are fighting against the government in the Democratic Republic of Congo have come up with a list of ultimatums to guarantee the ongoing peace process negotiations for the Eastern African country.
The coalition of Congo River Alliance (AFC) and the March 23 Rebels, have for starters demanded that the Government in Kinshasa to Release the 700 Arbitrarily Imprisoned Persons.
This comes up from the mediation and dialogue process under the patronage of the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Thani which is aimed at easing the tensions in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The peace talks have continued to progress in the Qatari capital, Doha.
Under this process, has brought together representative of the Congolese government in talks with the Alliance Fleuve du Congo (AFC) and the M23 rebel-coalition.
The fighting groups have come up a list of demands from either party have been brought to the table with the aim of finding a lasting solution to the war in eastern DRC.
The AFC and M23 rebels have so far submitted a list of more than 700 political and military prisoners who were arbitrarily or wrongfully arrested and detained by the government of President Félix Tshisekedi.
Some of those on the list include, the group of people arrested for being close to Christophe Baseane Nangaa, the former governor of Haut-Uélé and younger brother of Corneille Nangaa, the leader of the AFC and M23 rebel coalition.
These accusations against the said individuals by the Congolese government were laid at critical point of a tense security climate, hence worsening the situation in eastern provinces of the DR Congo.
Most parts of the DR Congo are already plagued by chronic instability fuelled by armed conflicts, political rivalries and complex regional issues.
