Air Tanzania now to fly into Kinshasa from March 26

Air Tanzania is introducing new direct flights between Dar-es-Salaam and Kinshasa City in the Democratic Republic of Congo despite the fact that the latter is steeped in political conflicts.

Despite the concern, the Tanzanian national carrier (ATCL) is insisting on the planned new international routes to the DR Congo and while at it, Air Tanzania also wants to fly to Nigeria.

But to start with, Air Tanzania, announced their intended flights to DR Congo from the 26th of March 2025, with a tagline ‘explore the wonders of Kinshasa!’

As per tentative schedule, the company planes will be flying between Dar-es-Salaam and Kinshasa four times a week, that is on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Why Air Tanzania decided to announce direct flights to Kinshasa at the time when the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is steeped in conflicts is something which the airline management did not explain during their latest travel announcements.

The new routes to Kinshasa come a few months after the Tanzanian flag carrier revived its direct flights between Dar-es-salaam and Johannesburg City of South Africa, which commenced in November 2024.

The Wings of Kilimanjaro also spread to Lusaka, Zambia, Mumbai, India and Guangzhou, China, with the latter including cargo freight.

In addition to DR Congo, Air Tanzania is again promising direct flights between Dar-es-Salaam and Nairobi, with trips commencing in May 2025.
