The Rainfall Forecast for March 2025 signals heavy precipitation and possibly floods in most parts of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
Wetter than normal conditions are expected over parts of Kenya, south-eastern Ethiopia, eastern Uganda, most parts of Tanzania, and few places in Somalia.
This means heavy rains will drench most parts of Tanzania from mid-March all the way to the end of May 2025.
That is according to the latest Intergovernmental Authority of Development Climate Prediction and Application Center (ICPAC) forecast for the usual weather trend between March and May 2025 in the Eastern Africa region.
With heavy precipitation predictions, floods should thus be expected in a number of Tanzanian Regions with the exception of the North-Western parts of the country, precisely the Lake Tanganyika peninsula.
Temperatures for the months of February and March 2025 have been high in most parts of Tanzania, Kenya and the entire Eastern African Region.
High chances of drier than usual conditions indicated over eastern and western parts of the region.
However, as days go by, the central and southern areas are expected to record wetter than usual conditions during the March to May season.
The corresponding temperatures are expected to be warmer than usual.
Drier than usual conditions expected over central parts of Ethiopia, western and southern Uganda, Burundi, and north-western Tanzania.
