MS Europa Luxury Cruise Ship sails into Tanzania on Valentines Day. To sample local cuisine

MS Europa, another luxury Cruise Ship carrying 408 passengers in its 204 cabins is expected to call port in Dar-es-salaam on the day after Valentines’ Day, which is Saturday, the 15th of February 2025.

On the 16th of February, the Europa docks in the Zanzibar Islands.

MS Europa is the flagship of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. It is sailing at the speed of 21 knots or 39 kilometers per hour equivalent to 24 miles per hour, thus making port in Tanzania in the second week of the second month of the year.

Are there Valentines on board?

The main selling point of the ship happens to be its assortments of global, continental and country food delicacies, making the Europa a typical floating hotel.

Dedicated to gourmet, luxury cruiser boasts several restaurants on board; the Europa Brasseries serve regional dishes and cuisines usually fresh from the country where the ship is docked.

So, does that mean the guests aboard Europa will be sampling Ugali, Rice and Beans or Pilau once the ship drops anchor along the Dar-es-salaam shoreline?

… Most likely.

Anyway, the ship’s itinerary indicates that after departing from Tanzania waters, MS Europa will continue to cruise around the globe but already listing in its itinerary the return to Dar-es-salaam 12 months later in the course of next year, on the 11th of January 2026.

… That is, if all goes well.

The information here was obtained from cruise port calendar 2025 which provides the latest list of cruise ships that are scheduled to arrive at Dar-es-salaam port, with detailed information, including date and time of arrival and departure, and maximum passenger capacity for each vessel.

MS Europa is the second luxury liner to dock onto the Dar-es-salaam port in the course of 2025.

Seabourn Sojourn was the first cruiser which sailed into Tanzanian waters in January with 309 tourists and 310 other passengers including members of the cruiser crew

With the luxury cruiser anchoring along the country shoreline, the tourists got off their cabins for a breather by sampling a variety of attractions in Dar-es-salaam City, including the National Museum, Tinga Tinga Arts gallery and Mwenge Craft Market.

Other visitors aboard the Sojourn, according to the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) took the Dar-es-salaam break much further inland by flying to the Serengeti and Nyerere National parks for wildlife viewing jungle adventures.

Previously in December 2024, Tanzania saw the arrival of the Oceania Riviera Ship with 1,258 passengers which called on both Zanzibar and Dar-es-salaam ports.

Usually, luxury ships sailing to Tanzania have passengers who prefer to sample the historical Kilwa Islands, it is not known if this will be the case with MS Europa taking into consideration that the other two cruisers did not dock there.
