The construction of the houses for the landslide victims was implemented through humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross and the National Service army of Tanzania (JKT).

A total of 109 newly built housing units were handed to the surviving family members who were affected by the December 2023 massive landslide which killed hundreds of people in Northern Tanzania.

It is being reported that the units will shelter families of 700 people.
