John Lual Akol Akol, from South Sudan National Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture- is now serving as the new Chairperson of the East African Business Council.
In his acceptance speech, the new EABC Chairperson Akol Akol, thanked the members of the Executive Committee 2022/2024 for their dedication and strategic leadership to the East African Business Council Secretariat.
Akol, pledged to provide leadership to ensure EABC remains true to its purpose as the voice of the private sector and its vision of a borderless East Africa for increased business and investment.
The East African Business Council has just winded up its 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held at the Mount Meru Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania, from which new office bearers were named.
The Assistant Regional Administrative Secretary for Arusha, Frank Mbando, who graced the event, appreciated the role of EABC in integrating the private sector to drive meaningful regional economic integration.
Mbando invited East African business entities to invest in Arusha, particularly in the edible oil and textile sectors, highlighting key opportunities in light of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
The 23rd Annual General Meeting reviewed the achievements and milestones for the year 2023/24. The AGM approved amendments to the EABC Memorandum and Articles of Association (MEMARTs), including the formation of a governing council.
The 23rd Annual General Meeting elected the following members to the EABC Governing Council and Executive Committee for the period 2024/2026.
