Ten university students win bursaries from Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarships Fund

The Bank Central of Tanzania has released the names of the winning students who have just been awarded with bursaries through the Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The Mwalimu Nyerere Fund has granted scholarships for the 2024/25 academic year.to best female and male Tanzanian students to pursue Bachelor and Master Degree programmes offered by accredited universities within the United Republic of Tanzania.

According to a statement issued by the Chairperson of Scholarship Awards Committee at the Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund, the scholarships have been granted to successful candidates based on academic merits and after undergoing a thorough selection process.

“The scholarship package shall cover all university and student direct costs as specified in the respective universities’ fee structure as well as a laptop computer,” reads part of the dispatch from the Bank of Tanzania.

The Successful candidates, who have been awarded the scholarships, include seven beneficiaries taking Bachelor’s Degree Programmes including Faraja Didas Lyamuya who pursues Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at University of Dar es Salaam.

There is also Luciana George Mberesero assisted to pursue Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering at University of Dar es Salaam; Chantell Kibago Waryoba, taking Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at University of Dar es Salaam and Consolata Prosper Lubuva to pursue Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Sciences at University of Dar es Salaam.

Others are Maduhu Ndagi Nindwa who pursues Doctor of Medicine at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences; Bhuyegi Gimonge Nyaimaga doing Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting at University of Dar es Salaam and Simoni Victoris Kiwango who goes to pursue Doctor of Medicine at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.

Then there are three Scholarships for master’s degree Programmes going to Odilo Mushobozi Severine to pursue Master of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance at Saint Augustine University of Tanzania; Jihan Khalid Maree to pursue Master of Science in Telecommunications Engineering at Institute of Finance Management and Debora Lusajo Mwakibinga pursue Master of Arts in Economics at St. Augustine University of Tanzania.

The Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund was established on 12th October, 2009 in commemoration of the great achievements of the Father of our Nation Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere.

The Fund is primarily dedicated for sponsoring top undergraduate female students to pursue Mathematics and Science studies in Tanzanian accredited universities, with the aim of promoting academic excellence of the students in respective fields.

The Fund also sponsors male and female Tanzanians to pursue undergraduate studies in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance. In addition, the Fund sponsors both male and female Tanzanian undergraduate students to undertake Master’s Degree Programs in the afore-mentioned fields of study.
