It was an epic evening for Enosh Wanyeche after he beat tough opponents to win this year’s CDF Golf Trophy at the end of the 54-hole showdown at the Lugalo golf course.

Wanyeche’s Sunday victory comes just a week after he won the fourth round of the Lina PG Tour at the Moshi Golf Club course in Kilimanjaro.

The Ace Golfer won the CDF Trophy after grossing six over par 222 strokes to beat his closest challenger, Isiaka Daudi Dunia by three shots.

Organized by the Tanzania People’s Defense Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Golf Club of Dar-es-Salaam, in collaboration with the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) and sponsored by the NMB Bank, the tournament gathers top male and female golfers from across the country.

The event honors the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), General Jacob Mkunda, who was also the chief guest at the event’s closing ceremony.

Wanyeche had an impressive level-par 72 at the end of Saturday’s 18 holes, giving him a one-shot lead after two rounds of the three-day, 54-hole national tournament. He now has a total score of 3-over par, adding from on his first-round score of 75.

First-round co-leaders Isiaka Daudi and Marius Kajuna, who both carded 74 strokes on Friday, could not maintain their lead.

Wanyeche started the first 18-hole with two over par 74 strokes before finishing the final tee off with four to get an aggregate score of six over par 160 strokes.

Breathing fire with three shots inferior to the winner, Lugalo’s Isiaka Daudi finished overall runner up with nine over par 225 strokes.

Daudi, who also finished second the fourth round of the Lina PG Tour, started the first 18-hole play with six over par 78 strokes before improving the score with three over par 75 strokes in the final day.

With 12 over par 228 strokes, Marius Kajuna beat the event’s favorite, Ally Isanzu to finish third overall while Isanzu who carded 15 over settled at the 4th position.

“ What let me down is a poor  start in the first 18 holes from which I penned 12 over, but today, I have improved the score with just two  over par gross 74,” said Isanzu from TPC Club of Kilimanjaro.

Fifth overall is Michael Massawe  who scored 17 over followed by Mtemi Ibrahim  and  Aldo Gandye who have tied with each posting +18 score.
