Taylors dominate entry list as Mount Uluguru Motor Rally gets ready to Spin Wheels

A total of sixteen cars have so far been enrolled for the Mount Uluguru Motor Rally event taking place in Morogoro this October.

Bobby Taylor a motorist from Norway seems to be the surprise entry in the third round of the National Rally Championship (NRC) which revs off in Morogoro next week.

Now, Bob Taylor is actually a Tanzanian who resides in Norway but happens to be not only familiar with the country’s rally scene but also its terrains.

The host region of Morogoro has produced six ace drivers that have already been confirmed for the two-day racing competition.

These include three more Taylors, that is Ethan Taylor, Kelvin Taylor and Isaack Taylor as well as Waleed Nahdi.

Other drivers that have confirmed to display their driving skills in the Morogoro Rally include Randeep Birdi, Manveer Birdi, Charles Bicco, David Matete, Altaf and Shehzad Munge from Dar es Salaam.

Gurpal Sandhu is so far the only driver from Arusha, who will be spinning the wheels at the Morogoro Rally.

The chairperson of the Mount Uluguru Club, Gwakisa Mahigi said the organizers anticipate the number of entries to also increase as time goes by.

Mahigi points out that the registration exercise is still open thus he expects more cars to be listed before the event gets flagged off on the 12th of October 2024.

“We expect to have the biggest entry list this time around as drivers and navigators from all clubs have confirmed their participation,” the Chairperson maintained.

Now, the third round is expected to break the ice on the chase for the National Rally Championship race between Dar es Salaam and Arusha whose drivers command the race for the national level championship.

Until the end of the second round, Manveer Birdi was a few points ahead of Gurpal Sandhu of Arusha.

Randeep Birdi, who won the first round in Tanga, has now been slotted in the third position with 25 points.
